Congrats to all. Way to go WOSCA. Congrats DSS competitors.

I tell you, that DSS 1 and 2 position will be a tough nut to crack. I will train hard.

Re: Official Results Thread - Events 2 & 3

Is it possible Marshals were handing out DNFs for going a different way through the 2 way slalom on day 2? It was a 2 way slalom was it not? Seams like a lot of DNFs for a relatively straight forward course.

Re: Official Results Thread - Events 2 & 3

I definetly want to know where people were DNF'ing all day long

i DNF'ed my first run for mis-interpreting a leaner, and was too late to correct, but then had smooth sailing then on.

i had the radio on me for most of the day, and all i heard was "offcourse, offcourse, offcourse, offcourse" LOL

Re: Official Results Thread - Events 2 & 3

I was working the back (middle section) sat. and sun. and there was some creative interpretation of the section with 4 cones at the track's edge and two cones on the other side- it looked like a slalom, but was not. We saw a few cars DNF that section EVERY TIME. I recall a black VR6 VW DNF there all sunday.

I had to work that section to be sure i hadn't messed it up myself.

Re: Official Results Thread - Events 2 & 3

It's an inherent problem with courses that big (DDT too) that you can never find out where your OC or cone occured.

Somebody told me that when Trung got a penalty on Sunday he found out the station number then ran all the way out to the far end of the course to ask the marshal where he screwed up, then ran all the way back in time for his next run.

I can't imagine another way to have found out.

In hind sight I should have issued a couple of radios to other WOSCA members on another frequency. Then I could call and ask them while they were out marshaling.

Anyway congratulations to Daniel for thoroughly showing us whos boss on Saturday and congratulations to James, Wes, Trung and Daniel on Sunday. Tha'ts some damn close PAX finishes. I think 99.96% might be the closest second place I've ever seen?

I remember Trung running across the field going to what must have seemed like the furthest marshall station ever. Even after my first run, I went to the final slalom before the stop box because it was a complete disaster when I went through it. It was either that, or try and watch a video if you had a camera.

A piece of paper and a pen at each post with one person recording all of the calls would be a simple solution to that problem. The SCCA has done it for years.

I think we tried it at the 2006 Canadian Nationals and it worked pretty well.

Yeah I marshalled at this location on Sunday as well and it was a disaster for most of the competitors in the second run group! Trung did come all the way out to see where he messed up after his first run!

Sounds like a novel idea, but I'm assuming you mean texting-E-paper and a facebook-web-pen.

it would work assuming ever call includes the marshal station.
