Re: Official Results Thread - Events 2 & 3

I carry a radio and I'm tuned in at every event. But I can't STAND it during my run. Tried it once. Better solution is to have a friend with a radio that can listen in.

The chatter would be distracting but if one REALLY wants to know...
I did just that. Unfortunately my car is really loud inside and I couldn't make out much. The radio chatter right after I thought I might have clipped a cone did confirm it though.
Might work ok in a quieter car, but also be distracting as they are calling all the other drivers on course too.

I was curious... how difficult would it be to transmit an FM signal locally so spectators and compeitors could just tune into a radio frequency to listen in on an MC... aka Joe when he's done it in years past? That would make it really awesome to get the play by play at an event.

It wouldn't be too hard, there are low power fm transmitter kits out there for $100-200, but the issue is we would need a couple of new volunteers to MC the event, along with a Mic and the ancillary equipment.

It would be another marshalling assignment, call out car numbers, and comment on cones/off courses, and run times. I'd volunteer for that for one of my marshalling stints.

hell yeah, count me in. It'll help me remember my radio DJ days at u.waterloo's CKMS 100.3 FM.
