Here's one for the Time Machine!!

If you were at the MCO Banquet and wondered what the 'Gordon Dewar Trophy' was all about, here is a shot of Gord at the 1971 Mosport Can Am Race. His crew chief is at the back of the car - Rick Slinn, see him today at the Canadian Tire parts counter in Kemptville!! Ronnie Ridge to his right - see him at his chip truck in North Gower! Bill Richards to Rick's left - RIP. Frank Wright in the STP T-Shirt iun between them.

That car was bought by Gord the second year after it was built and first run by Chris Amon in the Can Am Series. Previously to that, Gord had run a Mclaren M6B and before that a Camaro in Trans Am for a few years.

Gord was a motorsport enthusiast and passionate member of MCO. His Corvette, Cooper S and Lotus Europa were always exciting to watch in the Quebec ice racing championship!!!

Gord's Team - JNO Racing - was, as you can see from the lettering on the side of his motorhome, the March Distributor for Canada.

Trivia question - Who was running March at that time?

I remember Gord well from competing against him in some of the CTC races at Mosport and Harewood and also one T/A race at Bryar in 70. He was a strong racer in that 69 camaro. Anyone know what happened to his camaro?

Bob, not sure what happened to the Camaro but do you remember buying my Cooper S in 1966? I also remember seeing a new MGB GT in Mineral Blue with a 289 V8 in the showroom at Performance Cars in St Kits.

That Camaro was actually a reclipped ex-Terry Godsall Firebird. Gord had a
4th place Trans Am finish with that car - I seem to think that it might have been at Tremblant.

There was a flurry of activity regarding the pictured March a couple of years ago as I received a call from someone in the UK who was attempting to verify if it was in fact the Ex-Dewar/Amon car. I contacted Rick who said to look up over the pedal box for a modification that they had made to accomodate Gord's larger feet. They looked, it was as he described and the car value went up as a result!!

Gary, absolutely correct! High stepping, leather-wearing Max Mosely was running the March program back then.
