I lost one once at MIR, but since then using a little masking tape, I've never had any issues.

I've lost them at every track we've driven. The great thing about losing a magnet is you get to walk the track - a very valuable exercise - when you try to locate your magnet. 9 times out of 10, they fall black side up so match with the pavement and making them very challenging to locate. There was one time when my magnet was caught in another car's front grill.
So I always use tape to cover the leading edge.

I was actually thinking of buying a sheet of that 3M or Lamin-x clear bra material, and then just cutting strips out to tape down the leading edge of the decals, its pretty pricey but I am kind of OCD like that.....

For the 12th year in a row as an Auto Slalom, Solo 1/Time Attack Sponsor, we will be at the Open House.
We will be bringing with us the magnetic sheets and taking orders for number plates, decals and any other graphic materials you require. The magnetic sheets come 24"x36" for $20. One sheet should do all your decals. This year we've designed a new number plate for those who wish to purchase them. 3 number plates, on Adhesive vinyl, laminated $45.00 We'll also take orders for anything else you need. (A special note: the magnetic material is top quality, to prevent the number plates from falling off your car, make sure the number plate is kept flat while stored, and both surfaces are clean before applying it to the car.)
