Confused about helmets for the 2012 season

I've been trying to go over the new SCCA rules and they're a bit confusing. I was under the impression that SA/M2000 helmets were no longer up to spec as of January 2012 but in section 4.3.1 of the SCCA rulebook is states that:

All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell
Foundation standards (SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2010,
M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, K98), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A,
31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.

So...can I use an M2000 helmet this year then?

As per ASN Canada's Helmet Bulletin, where most clubs get insurance, they are good until the end of 2014

It's odd that Solosprint is not accepting SA2000 if you have a cage if ASN is good with them.
