Entry Fees

I heard a rumour that entry fees for events at CTMP (Mosport) were increasing, any truth to this?

Re: Entry Fees

I believe the cost for each track is kept the same across the board. If there is an increase for track costs, insurance, marshalls, etc then it should be distributed across the series.

I would think that Anne would be releasing registration forms shortly.

Re: Entry Fees

Yes, the ORO Clubs (Ontario Race Organizers) have agreed on an increase in Event Entry Fees (across the board) for the 2012 Road Race season to reflect changes in costs and expenses.

An official bulletin outlining the new fees will be issued and published within the next few days.

Re: Entry Fees

How come we find out entry's only a month before the season starts? Is there anyway this can be a tad earlier for next season? As we start acquiring sponsorship money and going through budgets In November.
Thanks

A small part of the delay this year was because I have had some problems with bulletin production and publishing . . .

- but that said - no, as a rule event entry fees can't be calculated much earlier. Not until organizing clubs can assemble and get cost for the new season from dozens of misc suppliers (including track rental fees). The whole process is not simple and a number is not just pulled out of the air.

Re: Entry Fees

A formal memo on behalf of the ORO (Race Organizing Clubs) will be issued by me this weekend - but just to give as much notice as possible . . .

Event Entry Fees will be increased by $25 per event for the 2012 season.

(i.e. - 2012 Pre-entry = $400 - last year was $375)

The actual memo will provide more details of fees by class, single day entries, shared car and 2nd entry.

I know that many have been waiting for an announcement.

While organizing clubs have done a wonderful job of keeping costs low (also thanks to our track workers and volunteer groups) - unfortunately we could be facing another increase next year.

Entry Fees have NOT gone up for a number of years (our last increase was due to the new HST, not clubs' finances) - and most suppliers and service providers are raising costs regularly.

We are already expecting additional future increases in Track Rental fees.

For those who don't know, a typical Race weekend can cost (give or take) $43,000. The only way to keep entry fees down is by increasing the number of competitors and entrants that split these costs. (dividing a weekend's total cost amongst 150 competitors is much better than with only 100)

One thing I can promise to all of you - NO ONE is getting rich from regional race weekends.

Re: Entry Fees

Gasp...43K. I wish. The annual Ted Powell three day race weekend budget flirts every year with 90k +. That's break even and sometimes we don't. There are so many costs associated with putting on an event that joe racer doesn't see. Food cost themselves can exceed 10 grand alone. Timing, safety, permits, lodgings, PAsystems, and the list goes on. These anciliaries exceed the track rental fee every year.

Hope you enjoy it this year. Gonna be a good one...again. We expect a record car count in all classes. Yippee.
