Race Car Driver Needed!

We still have seats available for the 7 hour endurance race. The Petit Petit Le Mans is a great race and Road Atlanta is a 'bucket list' track, what are you waiting for?

No, the Radical's are all entering the Friday race. That should be enough track time...

Re: Radical North American Masters - Road Atlanta - April 7-9

I only stayed for the endurance race and the first race Saturday but it was another excellent event!
The track is amazing - great flow..every corner is rewarding and there is lots of elevation.

The 7 hour race was great. Despite Dan Earle getting covered in oil from and exploding Boxster which set us back a lap early the driving was very rewarding. The track is demanding but it really flows well.

Antoine and I did one shift and Dan did two shifts including the 6:30 - 8pm sunset stint which must have been exhausting.

Of course the exploding Boxster stayed on the racing line in turn 11 - a very fast blind hill (a mix between turn 2 at Mosport and Turn 1 at Tremblant) - which made for some interesting observation from the start finish line. They didn't black flag for a while and half a dozen cars lost control in various ways.

The other team got lucky on a yellow flag pit stop and we ended up a few laps behind despite being on pace.

There were 48 cars with the average car being 20 laps behind the Radicals meaning each of us must have passed 500 cars plus per shift. Great practice for driving anything but the driving line.

The GT cars were great though - very alert and no major issues.

Lots of action in the Radical races and I will let others describe those. I will say that Team Canada did a great job with Tyson right on Antoines pace and Dan not far behind.

Everyone should try to make this track next year.

See you all at the Glen!

Greg

Re: Radical North American Masters - Road Atlanta - April 7-9

Greg,

Great summary. The track is probably my all time favorite - although that might change after visiting Watkins Glen next month! The field is going to be epic (30+ cars is my guess). A very well run event with great hospitality and off track social activities.

It was great to see so many other Canadians and happy that the racing was aggressive yet clean. I just uploaded a lap to YouTube which also shows how ridiculously fast the SR8's are on the straights. Watch your mirrors!

See everyone at the Glen.

Re: Radical North American Masters - Road Atlanta - April 7-9

Congrats to everyone for a fast and fun weekend.

My first ever race in a Radical was at Road Atlanta in my old Prosport way back in 2004, and my first ever Endurance race in a Radical was at Road Atlanta in 2011 (I think). It's a great track, definitely needs to be on every racers bucket list. For my money, it's Mosport with red dirt.

Tyson, it's interesting that you put it above VIR, Watkins Glen, Tremblant and other tracks on your favourites list. I like a few more technical bits, but maybe that's 'cause I'm not brave enough in the fast bits.....

Very much looking forward to Watkins Glen.

Re: Radical North American Masters - Road Atlanta - April 7-9

I hadn't driven Road Atlanta before but I must says it's now in my Top 5 (in no order: Mosport, Barber, VIR, Tremblant). Turn one is mega fast and the entry to the esses is pretty tricky. The last corner is easy flat in a 1340 Radical but it's still thrilling. There are several good passing zones and after starting race 2 at the back I made the most of them As usual when I visit a new track, I didn't really feel comfortable until Sunday afternoon!

Having 5 Canadians on the grid was a great showing (I'm not including Antoine!) and everyone acquitted themselves really well especially Tyson who sat on the pole and Dan who finished 3rd twice.
