The school is not required for new Solo 1 Competitors, only recommended.

When new competitors show up at a Solo 1 event they are considered 'students' until signed off by two (2) instructors.
This means that although the 'student' will be able to compete, they will have to be accompagnied by the instructor during their runs.

Instructors are fellow competitors with the experience necessary to help new competitors learn to safely drive around a racetrack.

Attending the Solo 1 School allows new competitors the opportunity to complete this orientation before competition starts!

I am trying to work my schedule this summer to get to at least one of the Solo 1 events. I understand that thee is some special pricing or licence waiver for a new person to attend an event.

What are the details of this?

I have competitive karting, Solo 2 and lapping experience. If I do not attend the Solo 1 school can the two instuctors sign off in the morning lapping before timed runs?

Hi Ana,

I noted on the registration form that a membership with a CASC-OR Club is needed. Is it also necessary to have a CASC-OR licence?

Thanks,

Gosok

No, there is no additional charge for the school if paying by credit card.

And yes, the School is two full days, and for the price of it you get lunch at the track, evening BBQ dinner on saturday, free onsite camping and one free entry in one event of the Mobil 1 2005 Solo1 Championship Series.

Sign-offs & Discounts

Doug,

In the past, we have offered 'weekend specials' for newcomers to the sport. So far this year, the Solo 1 Committee has not agreed to do this, and we won't be discussing it again until after the Open House. Last year we decided on this issue at the May Committee meeting!

Frankly, I doubt they will be offered again this year. This means that in order to get a discount on events, show up at the Open House In any event, a new policy this year is that all competitors and school entrants have to be members of a CASC-OR sanctioned club.

By the way, for those outside of driving range to the Open House we will be accepting the "Open House discount" on faxed in registrations received on or before April 3rd.

As for being signed off, IF you can persuade two instructors to go out with you during morning lapping, and IF you can impress them sufficiently with your safe ability to negotiate the track to sign you off, THEN you could run alone in the first timed session!

Since we have to rely on our qualified competitors to volunteer as instructors we can't guarantee you that they are available until timed runs start. When you register in the morning we'll be able to provide you with a list of the instructors, it will be up to you to apply your charms to them

Fair enough?

Thanks for the reply.

It was not the early registration discount I was thinking about as I can run a very limited season this year and I have not determined what events I can attend yet. I have a club membership already so that is not a problem.

The significant saving for a one time I remember was the waiver of the $50 licence. Is that something that will be discussed soon?

Regarding the sign off I have been told I have no charms.
