I was told that it is not possible to transfer ownership of personalised plates in Ontario? When they are turned in they can not be reregistered to someone else.

My dad has a set of plates that say TAXH8R. They're not in use anymore, I've always wanted to grab them off him. I hope that you're wrong about not being able to transfer plates like that.

I don't wish to dignify some of the insulting comments and sarcasm, however as i am no longer young enough to know everything, it seems some of you young punks don't seem to understand Personalized license plates. So for the unenlightened here are some facts. The Ontario personalized plates were issued in several stages. First there were 6 digit plates then 7 and lastly 8 digit plates. The government was no fool when they started issuing them ,
( look at what happens to the price of personalized plates in the U.K.!) as they realized they could make big bucks off this, for example when the 7 digit plates were issued on the FIRST day they were $500.00 each, this price lasted i think for one week and then they went down in price in 2 stages to where they are now at $240.00 each, but personalized plates are unique, which some of you don't seem to understand. Once a personalized plate is issued there is only ever one set made, nobody else can get that plate, so you can't get any of the plates i listed from the Government now, get it? None of these plates have been attached to or registered to any vehicle, and as such can be transfered to anyone designated by the original buyer. This is why the government encourages you to buy them, so you can make gifts of them if you want. There is also collecters of these plates who do whatever with them, and as i am one i have decided to sell some of mine at a price that reflects what i paid for them and a small profit to cover my carrying costs. However as some one mentioned i may be telling the wrong market about these plates, as i could possibly make major bucks if i put them on Ebay!
So if there is a moral here, it just may be wise to get the facts before you open your mouth and make yourself look like a fool. Also this is a 'for sale ' listing, if you want to chat about anything, there is another place in these forumns to do that, but if your interested in buying speak up, or shut up, unless of course you have something constructive or positive to say!
Also i wonder if you negative people would say what you do if you had to do it in person, instead of hiding behind your cowardly made up names? Keep smiling............................................................................................. ...
