Maybe FS: 323 GTX

I'm driving this car right now, it's in excellent running condition, with the exception of a second gear grind if you try and shift fast. It burns about 1L of oil between oil changes.
I imported it from the USA in November 2004 and put way too much time and money into it before I could put it on the road.
Engine is strong, the car has around 100000 MILES on it. I have installed a canadian gauge cluster though, as the US cluster digital tach wasn't working.
I replaced the following last winter (Jan - March 2005):
all brake hard lines
brake flex lines from a no-rust west coast car
all fuel hard lines
gas tank
four struts, the front two are tokicos, rears are monroes
springs from a no-rust west coast car
front lower control arms
it has mazdaspeed trailing arms
two of the four lateral links are mazdaspeed, the other two are original parts
mazdaspeed rear diff mounts
all new wheel bearings and seals. while the knuckles were off I sandblasted them and painted them freshly
four new mazda rotors
four rebuilt calipers and pads
refinished the wheels by hand.
New last winter four new Michelin snow tires
I was going to paint it, so it's not that pretty to look at. It is black.
Has power windows and power mirrors, sunroof.
The underside is getting soft. The lower rad support needs to be reinforced and the frame rails up near the front are also not as good as they could be. I did patch up the floor, there aren't any holes now but there were.
I was going to continue to fix what's wrong with it, but honestly have lost interest and want to move on to a new project.
A few hours with a welder and some steel is all the car needs underneath.
I know what I've spent on this thing and I know I will not get anywhere close to that amount. I would like to see it stay in the CASC family, or even become an ice racer for someone to whoop Tony with ( haha ).
Anyone interested in paying $2500 for it?
I'm located in Peterborough if anyone wants to check it out. It's my only car at the moment so it's not immediately available, but could be made available somewhat quickly to the right buyer.

Re: Maybe FS: 323 GTX

It's an '88.
I'll have to see if I can find the last e-test sheet. It might still be valid. It passed with flying colours last time, the only reason it may not pass now is because I think there is an exhaust leak where the factory downpipe connects in front of the cat. The gasket and fancy connecting thingie need to be replaced.
It probably wont pass a safety due to the condition of the underside, unless you are REALLY friendly with the guy writing the safety.

I will email some pics if you PM me your address.

Also forgot to say that most of the hardware (bolts, nuts, etc) that were required to hold stuff together was replaced with new stuff. I made excessive use of anti-seize. This car will be very easy to work on.

Ohhh Doug - Wheres the love???

These cars work well enough i'm sure you'll find a good home for it in the ice race community.

Youre close enough to minden- why not ice race it yourself. i know someone who is looking to partner up with someone for next season...

Re: Maybe FS: 323 GTX

Bump back to the top...

I am going to post this car for sale on various other 323 related sites now.
Car is no longer plated or insured.
$2000 including the tires, or less if you'll take the car and give the tires back. It would make a killer parts car, or a fixer upper if you can weld.

For ice racing even a Ferrari doesnt sound as sweet as the whooosh of the wastegate at 16 psi on a GTX
