Good morning Ice Racers! We’d like to start by thanking all of the volunteers and workers that made the series possible. We only made it to 3 of the 4 events, but we noticed that quite a few of our officials were out every weekend. On behalf of the racers, we’d like to thank everyone that “helped” to make the 2024 events happen. Between the weather and the tire changes, it was a challenging year.

I’d also like to thank Tom Prentice and the Kin. Without their efforts there’d be no track and no racing. The tire change demonstrated that a less aggressive stud preserved the track and made racing possible. We will be discussing the studded tire rules with the Kin in the off season to see what makes sense for 2025.

We have tentatively set Saturday, April 13 for the Ice Racing banquet. What we haven’t settled on is the where, the what and the how much. We will be setting up a questionnaire to see what people would like us to do - a full sit down dinner, a buffet, or a late afternoon reception. We’ll also ask if it should be held in Minden, perhaps Lindsay, or maybe down off the 401 somewhere. We’ll go with what appears to be the most popular option.

As announced at the meeting that was held in the Minden Lion’s Club Hall, We are accepting applications for the position of Ice Racing Director. A couple of people have expressed interest, but to date, no one has applied for the job. Having run 3 events this year with you, I think you’ve got something worth fighting for, but it will take someone with a lot of enthusiasm and energy to lead the charge. Ice Racing needs someone with a vision for what the sport needs to look like next year and beyond...
