TORONTO, ON (September 15, 2017) – Scott Goodyear and his son Michael Goodyear, will race together for the first time as father and son at the Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs Ontario Region 2017 Celebration of Motorsport event, September 30-October 1 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport). The pair will compete together in a BMW M235i Racing prepared and operated by Pfaff Motorsports in a three-hour endurance race at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Goodyear, a former Rothmans/Porsche Turbo Cup champion with Pfaff Motorsports and one of Canada’s most well-recognized racing drivers, has an illustrious history behind the wheel. He is an inductee to the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, a long-time racing analyst for ABC/ESPN Sports for the Indy 500 and IndyCar series, and the chief instructor of the Audi Driving Experience Canada.

Career highlights include winning the Michigan 500 twice, driving for the Porsche and Jaguar factories in the 24 hours of Le Mans and 24 Hours of Daytona. He has been also been an Audi factory endurance racing driver, three-time Canadian Formula Ford champion, six-time Canadian Kart champion, and more.

Perhaps most notably, Goodyear placed second to Al Unser Jr. in the closest finish in Indy 500 history. Michael Goodyear, Scott’s youngest son, is a six-time Kart Racers of America Champion and an SCCA Pro Fomula 4 racer.

At the Celebration of Motorsport, he will compete in a touring car for the first time behind the wheel of the BMW M235i Racing, a factory-built, purpose-made racing car from BMW Motorsport. The pair will be supported by Pfaff Motorsports, who won the 1988 Rothmans/Porsche Turbo Cup with Scott behind the wheel. The team recently won the platinum driver’s and team championships in the 2017 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, and in 2015 won two drivers’ championships and one team championship in the 2015 Canadian Porsche challenge.

“I am thrilled that I get to drive with my son Michael at my old home track,” said Scott Goodyear. “The fact that we get to debut together as a father and son team in front of Canadian fans is awesome. I’m very proud of my Porsche Turbo Cup championship with Pfaff, which helped launch my career into Indy cars.”

Son Michael added: “I’m so excited to race with my dad and Pfaff Motorsports. I know he grew up racing at Mosport, so I have not only a great teammate, but a great teacher. I’m also very honoured to be a second-generation racing driver with Pfaff.”
