OTA Event #2

Another fabulous day, May 27th, for motorsports compettition at Canadian Tire MotorSports Park - DDT.   Lots of sun and a few clouds.  Mother nature at her best.  This event was again hosted by OMSC.

The day began without Ujjwal Verma (SPDA) in the pits.  Was he not coming for event #2?  Thirty eight competitors, including 12 novices, were left wondering, and hoping, but the yellow 03 Mustang finally appeared at noon.

By the end of the day, Ujjwal had maintained his hold on first place in the overall championship.  Second place though changed hands, as James Houghton (SPDA) moved into second place in his white 98 Acura Integra, .675 points off the lead.  Third place overall also changed hands as Richard Nadeau (SPDA) in his yellow 76 Subaru WRX moved into this spot, .091 points behind James.

Top novice for the event went to Erik Dalla Riva (SPDA) in his purple 98 Honda Civic.

In the class standings, James Houghton holds a minimial .14 lead over Lloyd Martin (SPDA) in SGT3.  In GT3, Jonathan Weir (HADA) in his 02 Honda S2000 leads Andrew Van De Peer (HADA) in his 92 Honda Civic by .508 points.  Another class of interest is GT1 where Sal Vilardo (SPDA) in his black 88 Mustang GT seems to be opening up his lead over second place Klaus Willroider in his tan 85 BMW 325 es.

With two events in the books, it appears that the final standings, both overall and class, probably won't be decided until the last events at Grand Bend in September.
